Affiliate disclosure
Some links here earn a commission. Here is exactly how that works and what it does not buy.
The disclosure
Fliptake participates in affiliate programmes, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. That means some links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and then subscribe or buy, we may earn a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same. The commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your wallet.

How you can tell
Every page that contains an affiliate link says so in a visible notice above the fold — not buried in the footer, and not only on this page. Affiliate links are also marked in the page's code with rel="sponsored nofollow", which is the standard signal to search engines and to browser extensions.
What the commission does not buy
This is the part that actually matters:
- It doesn't buy a recommendation. Apps are ranked on how they performed in testing. Several of the apps recommended most often here pay nothing at all, because they have no affiliate programme — and a free tool beating a paid one is a completely normal outcome.
- It doesn't buy a position. Nobody pays to be first in a roundup, to be included, or to be removed.
- It doesn't buy a preview. No company sees a draft before it is published, and no company gets to approve, edit, or veto what is written about it.
- It doesn't buy silence. If an app we earn commission on is bad, the page says it's bad. If the honest answer is "don't pay for this, the free tier is enough", that's the answer — and it costs us the commission.
What we receive
Affiliate programmes report in aggregate: how many people clicked, how many bought, how much was earned. We never see who you are, what else you bought, or anything about your account. The cookie that records the referral is set by the merchant, on their domain, under their privacy policy — see our privacy policy for more on that.
If you'd rather not
Entirely reasonable, and it costs you nothing to opt out: search the app's name and go to its site directly. The advice on the page is the same either way, and none of it is behind a link. Using an affiliate link is a way to support the site's running costs if the guide was useful to you — never a condition of reading it.
Advertising
There are no display ads on this site today. If they're added later, they'll be clearly distinguishable from the writing, they won't shift the page around as it loads, and this page and the privacy policy will be updated before they go live.
